This Alternator/Generator engine. is basically an Early Shovel engine on the right side. with all generator and timer drive gears. Engines come with a special reverse ignition timer drive gear so they can be used with late. 70-99 style. ignition systems since these drive in the opposite direction. With its late Shovel left side crankcase the more modern and dependable 70-84 style alternator charging system can be used. If a generator is not used it is an excellent place to install a spin-on oil filter. Another advantage. all 70-up 4-speed. 5 or even 6-speed transmissions. can be run.
